In Young we trust.

During the off-season the Philadelphia Eagles made more moves then any usual team does in the off-season. However they weren’t just “moves” as the players they acquired put them at “dream team” status, a nickname given by quarterback Vince Young.

The main acquisitions that the Eagles made were; acquiring corner back Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2012 second-round draft pick in exchange for quarterback Kevin Kolb from the Arizona Cardinals. They acquired corner back Nnamdi Asomugha and quarterback Vince Young from the free agency and then signed Asomugha to a five-year contract and Young to a one year. Then one day later they signed defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins to a five year deal. Then on August 3^rd, they signed running back Ronnie Brown. Seven days later, they signed New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith.

The off-season transactions that the Eagles made many believe that they were the favorites to win the Super Bowl for the upcoming season and for years to come. However they would soon find out that you still have to play the game. Winning in week one against the St. Louis Rams, 31-13 the Eagles looked like the team they were expected to be; winners. Though despite the week one victory, the Eagles would lose their next four games. Losing to Atlanta Falcons 35-31, the New York Giants 29-16, the San Francisco 49ers 24-23, and the Buffalo Bills 31-24, the Philadelphia Eagles were 1-4 and in dead last of the NFC East.

Fortunately for the Eagles they would bounce back against the Washington Redskins with a 20-13 win. Then after the bye week the winning would continue as they beat the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night at home, 34-7 and for once looked like the team everyone thought they would be; winners. But then they would let them off the hook as they would lose their next two games (Chicago 30-24 and Arizona 21-17).

Then in week 11 the Eagles at 3-6 would face the New York Giants in a win or go home situation as if they were to lose again they wouldn’t make the playoffs which meant that they wouldn’t win a Super Bowl. Though just like they did when you least expected them to win the Philadelphia Eagles did it as they won 17-10.

The win over the New York Giants brings them to 4-6 and third in the NFC East, however it doesn’t save them as they still have to win out to make the playoffs. And looking ahead at their schedule with games against the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, and the Washington Redskins it just doesn’t seem that possible. But it seems like when you least expect it, the Philadelphia Eagles do what you least expect them to do. So for right now their season isn’t over though it seems it. But hey, that’s why you play the game.

The wish of the College football world came true.

During week 10 of this year’s NCAA Football season fans saw what they called this year’s BCS National Championship game; except the only difference was it was happening during the season. It was the number one ranked LSU Tigers versus the number two ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.

Many said that this would be the game of the year and that it would be better than the BCS National Championship game in January as many felt that these two teams were the best of this year’s college football season. They thought right as LSU won the game with a field goal in overtime making the final score 9-6.

Fans, analysts, players, and the college football world were thrilled of the game that they witnessed but they were heartbroken at the same time as everyone wanted to see a rematch between the two teams. Possible right? Not really due to the BCS ranking system and that the fact that it was already late in the season all pointed that LSU, Alabama wouldn’t be played again this season.

However when the BCS rankings came out that following week, the Crimson Tide of Alabama would still have a chance; getting the number one spot was LSU then followed Oklahoma State at number two and then Alabama at number three.

The Crimson Tide still had a chance as all they needed was an Oklahoma State loss. The only problem was; Oklahoma State didn’t lose. However, looking at their upcoming schedule Alabama appeared to have a chance. Reading Texas Tech, Iowa State, and number fifth ranked Oklahoma, a loss for the Oklahoma State Cowboys appeared to possible. Except not possible against Texas Tech or Iowa State, but, Oklahoma ranked fifth in the country seemed very possible.

Though on Friday the 18^th the number two Oklahoma State Cowboys would blow a 17 point lead against the Iowa State Cyclones and lose 37-31 in double overtime. It happened, the Cowboys lost which meant that Alabama pending a victory would move up to the number two spot.

Like expected, the Crimson Tide would defeat Georgia Southern 45-21 locking up the number two spot in the BCS rankings. However, just to make sure the number fourth ranked Oregon Ducks trailing right behind the Tide in the BCS rankings would lose as well.

The Ducks would lose to the USC Trojans 38-35 closing the book to their BCS Championship hopes. And just to make sure that Alabama really had it locked up; the number fifth ranked Oklahoma Sooners would lose to the number 22^nd ranked Baylor Bears, 45-38.

Rather someone wished for this to happen on 11/11/11, or if this is a sign that the world is coming to an end, or maybe it’s just fait; who knows? But what we do know is come January as long as both teams, LSU and Alabama win out, the rematch and game that everyone was hoping and wishing, for will happen. I guess their really is a Santa Claus.

Revis the newest of the Tim Tebow critics.

Since coming into the NFL 2010 Tim Tebow has been repeatedly criticized by everyone; analysts, reporters, coaches, you name it. However he’s always answered them in a positive way avoiding any sort of controversy. Though since being named the starter week 7, Tebow has answered them in a new way; winning.

Since becoming the starting quarterback in week 7 for the Denver Broncos they have only lost one game which came to them in week 8 from the Detroit Lions, who won 45-10.

Though despite all the wins and great plays that has happened since making the switch to Tebow, he’s still getting criticized. Except this time, it’s a player. New York Jets corner back Darrelle Revis told the press that this offense won’t work for the rest of the season, “No, not for a whole season, because we know what they’re doing, and we feel comfortable in our game plan,” Revis said. “Yeah, if you have Michael Vick and, I don’t know, Chris Johnson at running back. Yeah, it can work. Those are probably the two fastest guys that can probably get out on the edge on you.”

Now if you look at the stats of both Vick and Johnson and compare them to Denver’s offense or to Tebow and running back Willis McGahee then Revis’ comments don’t make sense. On the season right now McGahee has 127 attempts for 640 yards and three touchdowns compared to Johnson who has 148 attempts for only 496 yards and two touchdowns.

Now when you compare Vick and Tebow, obviously Vick has the better numbers of the two as Tebow has only really played in four and half games. However, if you compare the two from Tebow’s first start on, Tebow wins. In Vick’s last four games he has rushed for 217 yards and zero touchdowns where as Tebow has rushed for 283 yards and one touchdown. Also in that stretch Tebow has been the better starter winning three games compared to Vick who only won two.

Despite being wrong about his comparison Revis wouldn’t stop there as he would go onto say, “We can’t fall asleep back there in the secondary,” Revis said. “It can get boring, especially when a team just keeps running the ball, series after series, play after play.”

Now you can call it what you want, boring or not. But this Denver offense has opposing defenses right they want them and on this Thursday night against the New York Jets ranked 15^th against the run will experience something that they haven’t experienced all season long; Tim Tebow.

Derrick Rose an Assassin?

Commercials have always been a great asset for athletes as not only do they get money for participating in them but they get the publicity and exposure as well. However sometimes it can backfire on them depending on what the commercial is or what their role is in the commercial.

Luckily for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose it’s not the case; both are staring in the new Assassin’s Creed commercial for the release of ubisoft’s new video game Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

The commercial begins with Adrian Peterson flipping up his hood over his head with his name and number of victims (1,435) underneath it. A couple seconds later Derrick Rose does the same thing except instead of victims it says escapes (1,357). As for what the victims and escapes numbers mean; there’s no answer.

Now athletes star in several different commercials each year and some of those due include video games, except they’re doing something else; something more relevant. Maybe it’s just me, but Adrian Peterson and Derrick Rose in hooded clothing listed as “Assassin’s” just doesn’t really fit them.

Adrian Peterson, a 6’1 217 pound running back and Derrick Rose, a 6’3 190 pound point guard both assassins? Come on, let’s be realistic. Now if they showed all of that and then played a clip of Chris Carter saying “C’mon man” after it would’ve made much more sense, and would’ve given some laughs.

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a fine commercial and their goal is certainly paying off; get the public eye’s attention and regardless of how you write the commercial you can’t really going wrong when you put two super star athletes in Adrian Peterson and Derrick Rose in it.

Assassins Creed: Revelations will be available in stores on Tuesday November 15. As for the commercial I’m sure it will be repeatedly aired and showed all throughout the country for at least the next month.
