Two sides to every story

One month ago future hall-of-famer Shaquille O’Neal shocked the world when he decided to hang up the jersey and call it quits as he decided to retire. Now just about a little over a month later since hanging it up Shaquille O’Neal has shocked the world again.

On Friday July 15th a lawsuit was filed against Shaquille O’Neal by his former friend Robert Ross. Ross told the L.A. County Superior Court that O’Neal paid him and requested for him to commit a series of murders and attacks on people that did wrong to him in the past.

The people who O’Neal is being accused of placing hurt and/or kill orders on include a gang member that reportedly embarrassed and disrespected O’Neal in front of his wife Shaunie when the two were downtown and a woman who O’Neal supposedly impregnated and paid for an abortion for. The woman’s name was disclosed.

It doesn’t stop there, O’Neal also allegedly ordered Ross to kill a renowned record producer and to break the arm of an NBA player’s shooting arm. Ross wouldn’t admit if he carried out any of these orders from O’Neal.

O’Neal’s lawyer would respond to this whole break out by saying in an interview with TMZ that “The outlandish claims by Robert Ross in his civil complaint are pure fiction.  Shaquille O’Neal befriended Mr. Ross in an attempt to help turn his life around.  Sadly, Mr. Ross abused that friendship again and again. Shaquille’s commitment to law enforcement is well-known and documented.  He will not dignify these defamatory allegations with a response.

Now while this seems like a propaganda scam or a fake report, it’s not. These allegations of complaint for false impersonation, kidnapping, assault and battery, robbery-conversion of personal property, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and breach of contract were all accusations filed towards O’Neal and signed by John A. Clarke of the L.A. County Superior Court on July 15th 2011.

Wow. Who would ever think that the 7 foot 1 inch loveable, funny, outgoing, caring, Shaquille O’Neal would be in the situation that he’s in now? One could only think that Robert Ross would be lying about this as an act to gain revenge on O’Neal or to gain attention or something along those lines. But accusing a person of O’Neal’s magnitude for false impersonation, kidnapping, assault and battery, robbery-conversion of personal property, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and breach of contract and to lie about that…well that’s a bit too much.

Shaquille O’Neal has faced a lot of opponents in his life, at all different stages, bringing along with it all different pressures and challenges. But this opponent, Robert Ross and this stage of O’Neal’s life of freedom on the line, well that’s certainly bigger then any game Shaquille O’Neal has suited up for.
