Deron Williams goes for 57 points against the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Charlotte Bobcats have been completely awful this season as every game this year has just been one joke after another as at 4-31 they’re the NBA’s stand up comedian act. However during today’s game against the New Jersey Nets they gave up one of their most hurtful jokes.

Facing the fourth worst team in the NBA ahead of themselves at dead last, followed by Washington at 8-28, and Sacramento at 12-25 the Charlotte Bobcats not only allowed the 12-26 New Jersey Nets defeat them 104-101.

Though it gets better or well worse…depending on what way you look at it as New Jersey Net’s guard Deron Williams, whose averaging 21.2 points per game scored 57 points against the helpless Bobcats.

Williams’ 57 points also set a New Jersey Nets franchise record. See I told you it would get better for the Bobcats as they helped Nets’ guard Deron Williams make history.

But wait, there’s more good news as since the Bobcats didn’t allow Williams to score 58 or more meant that they saved their franchise record for most points allowed by one player in a game as Kobe Bryant owns that record from December 29^th, 2006 when he dropped 58 points in a 124-133 Lakers loss.

Though unfortunately for the Bobcats unlike they were able to do when they allowed Bryant to put on a shooting clinic for 58 points, they were however unable to come up with the win for Williams’ record breaking outing.

Now to the Bobcats’ defense their defense against opposing teams was considerably better in 2006 than it was this season as they ranked ninth for most points allowed in the NBA with 100.6 points per game where as this season they rank fourth with 101.1 points per game.

Now also to the Bobcats’ defense, head coach Paul Silas told his team not to double team Williams tonight as they were not giving him special “star attention” sort of speak.

As for Williams he loved it.

“I’m used to getting double-teamed on those,” Williams said. “It’s kind of refreshing not to be.”

Though you think after Williams had 39 points through three quarters that you would switch up the defensive routine and try to stop him? Nope, instead they thought that letting him score 18 more points in the fourth quarter to lead the Nets to a 104-101 victory was a better idea, a much better idea.

“You can do one of two things: you can try to stop him and double him and leave other players wide open or guard everybody,” Silas said. “I thought that’s mainly what kept us in the game. Nobody else was doing anything (for them). It gave us a chance.”

The Nets will end their four game road trip in Miami on Tuesday so let’s hope that Miami Heat’s Erik Spoelstra was taking some notes or some advice as to pss pss (whisper noises) to double team the man and shut him down.

Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, great friends on the court and great friends off the court.

From the time the NBA Lockout ended all the way up until the present time of everyday, there have been trade rumors revolving Los Angeles Lakers forward, Pau Gasol almost constantly.

Gasol, who was acquired back in 2008 from the Memphis Grizzlies along with a 2010 second round pick in exchange for forward Kwame Brown, guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron Mckie, the rights to Marc Gasol, as well as a 2008 and 2010 draft pick, brought in forward Pau Gasol to Los Angeles. However more importantly, it would bring a superstar that longtime Laker, Kobe Bryant wanted and it would bring in something that the whole organization wanted; a championship.

Fortunate enough, the Lakers wouldn’t get just one championship as they would get two after the addition of Pau Gasol. Though after failing to complete the three peat by losing in the playoffs last year to the Dallas Mavericks 4-0, forward Pau Gasol has been rumored to be traded.

Though after a 102-90 Lakers loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night, Bryant would respond to the continuous rumors very angrily saying, “Basketball is such an emotional game, you got to be able to have all of yourself in the game and invested in the game. We didn’t have that,” Bryant said. “Pau, it’s hard for Pau because of all this trade talk and all this other stuff, it’s hard for him to kind of invest himself completely or immerse himself completely into games when he’s hearing trade talk every other day. I wish management would come out and either trade him or not trade him.”

Bryant would go onto defend Gasol saying that he’d rather have management keep him, rather then trade him.

“I talked to [Gasol] a little bit about it,” Bryant said. “It’s just tough for a player to give his all when you don’t know if you’re going to be here tomorrow. I’d rather them not trade him at all. If they’re going to do something, I wish they would just [expletive] do it. If they’re not going to do it, come out and say you’re not going to do it. This way he can be comfortable, he can go out, he can play and he can invest all of himself into the game.”

And just like Bryant wished, he would receive as Lakers general manager, Mitch Kupchak would release a statement Monday night on the teams website saying, “As a former player, I understand how the days leading up to the trade deadline can be nerve-wracking for an NBA player. Nonetheless, as General Manager of the Lakers, I have a responsibility to ownership, our fans and the players on this team to actively pursue opportunities to improve the team for this season and seasons to come. To say publicly that we would not do this would serve no purpose and put us at a competitive disadvantage. Taking such a course of action at this time would be a disservice to ownership, the team and our many fans.”

A disadvantage? A disservice? Not at all. Matter of fact, not saying if you’re going to trade Gasol or not is putting a team at a disadvantage based off of the facts that Bryant told reporters after the game. Continuing with that, it put’s not only the fans at a disservice but it puts the team at one too. Because, not telling Gasol rather if you’re planning on trading him results in wondering where he’s going to be the next day, if it’s going to be LA or not and then as far as the fans, they’re getting cheated out of seeing a good game as their players, the Lakers aren’t performing at their highest level due to trade rumors.

So Mitch Kupchak, you don’t have to come out publicly and say that your trading Gasol or not, as you would claim that puts you at a “disadvantage” and “disservices” to the fans, but what you do have to do is sit down with Gasol behind closed doors and tell him the truth, that you do need to do.
