Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow hasn’t only touched the football world with his great skills, but he’s touched the world with a new trend called tebowing. Now tebowing is when you get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different. This trend, called “tebowing” has taken over the world as vast amounts of people have been performing this act. One of those several people to perform this trend called “tebowing” was a Riverhead High School senior Connor Carroll. Carroll as well as his brother were suspended from school and from their baseball team for one game, here’s what Connor Carroll had to say.
Mike Ortiz: Are you a Broncos fan?
Connor Carroll: No. I am a New York Giants fan.
Mike Ortiz: When did you first get the idea of tebowing?
Connor Carroll: I first got the idea of tebowing on Thanksgiving. My family was gathered around watching the pregame show and CBS aired a segment in which people were tebowing all over the world in places such as the Vatican, Eiffel tower, etc…
Mike Ortiz: What made you want to do it in school?
Connor Carroll: We tebowed in school because we are all big Tim Tebow fans. It was supposed to be a small thing between my group of friends. It took a life of its own.
Mike Ortiz: How did you convince your friends to do it?
Connor Carroll: I did not need to convince my friends to do it. They are all fans of Tim Tebow and thought it would be cool to show our respect to Tim.
Mike Ortiz: How many times have you done this in school?
Connor Carroll: We tebowed once a day Monday through Wednesday. 3 times.
Mike Ortiz: Why did you guys get in trouble?
Connor Carroll: We got in trouble for blocking the halls. Administration has told the media we have been warned before therefore we were the only ones suspended. That is completely false. They are trying to connect an unrelated event two months ago. Our principal has even told us that event is unrelated. We were never warned.
Mike Ortiz: Did you think it was fair?
Connor Carroll: I do not think the suspensions were fair. We were not warned. There were up to 40 students involved and 38 get off with warnings? Quite ridiculous.
Mike Ortiz: Were your parents mad at you that you got suspended?
Connor Carroll: My parents were not mad. They thought it was funny. They were upset that we were singled out.
Mike Ortiz: Are you done tebowing forever?
Connor Carroll: I’m done tebowing in school because administration will overreact again. I’ll continue tebowing everywhere else though. Myself and Tebowing is linked now so I can’t stop.
Mike Ortiz: Looking back now do you think it was worth getting suspended to make all of the National Coverage etc?
Connor Carroll: Absolutely. It is not what we intended to do. I could never have imagined being on ESPN, FOX News, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc… I would do it all again without hesitation.
